Remains of Newcomen Beam Engine House used to pump water. Installed in c1719 is believed to be the second such type of engine installed in Scotland. In 1732 a larger engine was installed. There may have been a rotative engine at some time. The site sits on the edge of Auchenharvie Golf Course. The shaft may have also served as an air shaft for Auchenharvie Colliery.
