Saggrenda Silver Mine (Norway)

The Silver Mines are located in Saggrenda, approximately 8 kilometres west of Kongsberg in the South-East of Norway. A mine train brings you 2.3 km. into the King’s Mine. The bottom of the mine is 1.070 metres below the surface, which corresponds to 560 metres below sea level. The guided tour takes place 342 metres below the surface and includes a demonstration of the old “Fahrkunst”, the first personnel lift in the Silvermines. This lift brought the miners another 300 metres down into the deep. The guides will tell you about peoples' living- and working conditions, as well as mining technology and geology. You will also see the actual places where silver was found
