Roughton Gill Lead Mine (United Kingdom)
The most famous mine in the Caldbeck fells with a long history. The start date for the mine is not known but it is know to have been worked by the elizabethans some of there coffin levels are still visable in silver gill. the mine wa worked with much success in the late 1700s and most of the 1800s. the last company to work the mine for lead and copper was Caldbeck fells consolidated lead and copper mining company who for a variety of reasons went bankrupt in february 1878 bringing to and end metal mining on the set. the dumps where later reworked by the Cleator iron ore co for Barite and Umber
