Rotherside Coal Mine (United Kingdom)


Located by the River Rother at Eckington. The twin adits of this mine were sunk by The Moorside Mining Company Ltd. The first coal was raised from the deep Soft seam was in June 1993, most of the output going for powerstation use. Typically the mine had a workforce of 15, 8 on the face and rest spread over various other functions. The mine was still in operation in 2000.
