Quintana Gold Mine Gold Mine (Colombia)

The Quintana Mine exploits a single mesothermal auriferous quartz vein with minor sulphides and free gold. The vein trends N-S dipping to the east at 38-40 degrees. Vein widths vary, with an average width of between 0.8m to 1.5m in most of the mine. Gold grades have been seen as high as 150 g/t and are generally enhanced in the vicinity of base-metal and iron sulphides. Ground conditions are generally good and comprise unaltered granodiorites on the footwall and hangingwall, the latter often breaking cleanly from the vein quartz.
