Located at Brezové Hory, the Príbram Mining Museum is the largest complex of its kind to be found in the Czech Republic. The exhibitions on show there illustrate the story of local mining from primeval times to the 20th century when mining activities were terminated. The Anna Mine offers an opportunity to descend underground and take a ride on a pit train through a mining gallery leading to the mouth of the Prokop Shaft, one of the deepest in Central Europe (reaching to a depth of 1,600 metres). The exhibition features a miner's cottage documenting the lifestyle of miners' families in the past. The museum ground serves as a venue for exhibitions of nativity scenes and for Shrovetide and Easter celebrations. Apart from this the museum was entrusted with the administration of other monuments, including the Vojna Memorial near Príbram, which was used (under the communist regime) as a prison.
