Port Nolloth Copper Railway (South Africa)


Because of heavy transport costs at the famous O'okiep mine a railroad connection tp Port Nolloth was considered in the 1860s.The Cornish engineer Richard Thomas Hall carried out the feasibilty study. In 1849 he had been Superintendant Engineer of the Redruth and Chacewater Railroad. The ninety-two mile railway was completed in 1876.
