Pentrich Village in Derbyshire had various small pits/collieries around it of a shallow nature and also bell Pits were recorded to the SE & E of the Village. It is likely that Clay, Ironstone were by products from the same pits. To date the following have been located and display some minor surface features in the fields around the village-
At SK392525 was Waterloo Pit - Disturbed Surface features in a field by lane,
At SK391522 there are two easily identifiable Shaft mounds made of Coal Shale waste.
At SK392522 there is an obvious shaft mound topped by a tree in an open field.
At SK392532 there is a patch of disturbed ground close to lane to Oakerthorpe over hedge.
Most of the sites cannot be accessed by Public Footpaths but can be seen from them.
