Penny Hole Coal Colliery (United Kingdom)

This is described in Farey as being 1.25 mile North-northwest of Flash. Surface evidence of mine shafts in the area to the east and southeast of Orchard Farm. The exact site of this coal mine is uncertain, but there are a number of possible shafts. There is also a possibility that Penny Hole Colliery may be the same a Hope Colliery, although Hope Colliery is a few hundred metres to the southwest. The grid reference given is the southwest of a number of shafts, at the grid ref is a nice walled shaft on top of its mound. A number of the shaft markers have also been moved from the shafts further up the valley and area dumped alongside the track.
