Penarth Coal Port (United Kingdom)

This port was built by the Taff Vale Railway who originally used the Bute Dock Companies Cardiff Bute Dock, however the relationship with them was uneasy. After the threat to raise charges by a penny, the Taff Vale Railway Company built their own rival docks at Penarth less than five miles away from the docks at Cardiff, opening on the 10th June 1865.
