Noyant D'allier Coal Colliery (France)

A former coal mining site with a unique (for France) reinforced concrete headframe, associated buildings and a wealth of old equipment, seemingly from a number of sites. The mine is preserved as a museum and supported by a group of local inhabitants dedicated to keeping the town's mining heritage alive. The group have a web page: [url]http://www.mine-noyant.fr/. while the numerous diesel locos also have a wikipedia site: [url]https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Train_touristique_du_Mus%C3%A9e_de_la_Mine_de_Noyant-d%27Allier . The town also has an interesting social history with numerous Polish miners residing there between the wars and a more recent influx of Vietnamese now occupying the miners' cottages. The mine closed during the second world war which makes the extent of the remains rather remarkable.
