Neptune (Nay Green North) Lead Mine (United Kingdom)

No information readily available on the history of this mine (see Lead Mining in Derbyshire Vol 1 p 174). First dug open by TSG in 1970s (see PDMHS Bulletin Vol 7 No 2 pp 113-115). Oil drum entrance eventually collapsed and was dug open again by MCG. The level eventually ends at a forefield. There are 5 winzes to traverse, normally flooded to valley floor level. Rails and pipe in first part of level end at the 3rd winze. The rails are hollow and of an unusual rounded cross-section. Just beyond the 3rd winze is a rise that apparently leads to a higher level. There are 3 side branches, 1 to the north and 2 to the south.
