the first shaft circa 1820,by 1840 no1 and 1850 no2 shaft had been sunk to total depth of 1008ft.in 1884 the workings hit a preglacial basin and drowned out.by 1887 shaft3 and shaft 4 were sunk in no1 and 2s shaft pillar to 1800ft avoiding the flooded workings,it was shut after nationalisation in 1950 far from worked out,the collieries take being mines from bradford colliery in manchester
