Milkwellburn (Carr's) Coal Mine (United Kingdom)


Includes:Milkwellburn East Shaft, Milkwellburn Five-Quarter Drift, Milkwellburn Three-Quarter Drift, Milkwellburn Brockwell Drift.
The Five-Quarter and three Quarter seams were being worked by 1840.
One of the drifts was opened about 1874 by a Mr Carr . Carr went bankrupt about 1880 and the colliery was aquired by the Consett Iron Co.
Production ceased by 1922 at the East Shaft.
