Methil Coal Port (United Kingdom)


Based around the ld Methil harbour on the Fife coast, established by the Wemyss family in 1664 but substantially enlarged during the late 1800s becoming a port in 1892. It is tied in with the Wemyss Private railway which used the port for transporting coal from the local mines. Some 3,000,000 tons of coal once being shipped.
