Lundhill Coal Mine (United Kingdom)

In 1857 at Lundhill colliery, an underground explosion killed 189 men and boys.
As a consequence 90 women were made widows.
A special Disaster Fund was set up to which Queen Victoria donated £200 and Prince Albert donated £100.

A couple of photos.
