Lord Carlisle's Water Level (Low Level) Lead Mine (United Kingdom)

Driven from the west side of the Stanhope burn valley, immediately to the east of Noah's Ark Open-cut. Drystone arched throughout its accessible length. Wider than a typical level - about 2.05 metres wide. Blocked at about 76 metres from the entrance(09/05/2013). The fall is mud, pebbles and broken limestone lumps. On the north side of the level, at a point 13 metres from the blockage, are two small culverts, by which most of the water enters the level. The dump is well vegetated with no obvious signs of buildings. References in Weardale Mines, Fairbairn.
