Little Sheriff (Sherriff) Coal Mine (United Kingdom)


Located nr Silverdale west of Newcastle-under-Lyme it was first opened in 1990 by Apedale Hall Colliery Co Ltd but later changed hands being operated by J.A Knight (Coppice) Ltd. Mining was from a single drift with haulge by an electric motor at surface. The mine worked the Rowhurst and Burnwood seams. although only a small mine it had full amenaties including baths and workshops.
