Limepits (West Ecton) Copper Mine (United Kingdom)

Limepits Mine (also known as West Ecton Mine) is located on the west bank of the Manifold just to the south of Swainsley hall. There are two adit entrances, the lower one is located just below the former railway track which was driven in the mid-19th century and leads to a flooded inclined shaft and a small stope choked at its upper end which formerly connected to a shaft to surface. The upper adit is earlier in date, possibly 18th century and leads to a steeply dipping pipeworking and the surface shaft.
