This rather extensive mine lies on the hillside of Pen Y Graig Ddu near the Bwlch Nantyrarian nature reserve. Above Level Newydd lies Nant yr Uch mine - it worked on the same lode.
The vast Ty'n Y Graig adit commences from a partly covered portal at the forestry track nearby, but ending at a dead end after about 100 feet. The adit from the 1920s was meant to reach the Bwlch and Goginan vains but never did in the end.
Further along the forestry track were it crosses the brook, dressing floor remains are to be found. Following the rough path up the tips, the level newydd itself is to be found at the top of an impressive tip.
The narrow entrance windens once inside and leads through water to an alcove, (possibly a collapse), on the left. I could only just get through the deep entrance water in wellies. Spectacular colours are stained all along the low adit, and soon a small chamber is reached where a winze/rise leads upwards from the four-way junction to Lefel Yr Uch.
The level to the West / left turns sharply right and ends at a solid pile of deads. The level to the East stops at a dead end. The main adit continues into deep water again - this time too deep for wellies. Another four-way junction is reached - the levels running parallel with the latter ones from the chamber.
