L'esperança (Cova De Les Calaveres) Iron Mine (Spain)

This small mine iron, galena and sphalerite was exploited since time immemorial and Mr. Norbert Font i Sagué in his "Catalech Espeleologich", published in 1897 noted that, back in the second half of nineteenth century, workers came upon a cave where they found the remains of several Neolithic miners "whose instruments of flint and ophite demonstrate the ancient age to which they belonged and that should be buried because of a collapse. " For this reason is also known by the Cave of Skulls.

The operation ended about the forties of last century to exhaust the reef, to be used later for the cultivation of mushrooms.
