Kenilworth Coal Mine (United States)

The opening of the Kenilworth Mine in 1907 marked the beginning of the second phase of development in Utah's coal industry. The first phase was marked by a complete monopoly of the railroads over coal production, and the second phase was marked by the entrance of a number of local independent producers into the industry. The Independent Coal & Coke Company's mine was the first of the independents established.
