Kamensky Zavod was founded in the late 17th century as a settlement next to the cast iron smelting factory and foundry, commissioned on October 15, 1701. The first 2 centuries of existence it was known for its cannons - best ones in the world.
First schools opened in Kamensk in 1724. In 1825–1829 the cast iron smelting factory went through a reconstruction. Railway traffic started at 6 December 1885. The first library opened in 1899. 1934 - Sinarsky Pipe Works established. 1939 - Ural Aluminium Factory established. Kamensk was granted city status in 1935 and renamed Kamensk-Uralsky in 1940.
During the II World War the city became the third by the population in the region and keep promising position now.
