Janina Coal Colliery (Poland)


The Janina coal mine is a large mine in the south of Poland in Jaworzno, Silesian Voivodeship, 350 km south-west of the capital, Warsaw. Janina represents one of the largest coal reserve in Poland having estimated reserves of 841 million tonnes of coal. The annual coal production is around 2.8 million tonnes.
The beginnings of geological research in the area Libiaz back to the second half of the nineteenth century. The first wells were constructed in the years 1860 - 1870 in the town Zarki, Moczydlo, Maniska and labeling.
