Helsdale (Oughtrington) Sandstone Quarry (United Kingdom)

Sandstone quarry marked as disused on 1875 OS County series map. Stone was probably used in the construction of the nearby church of St Peter in Oughtrington and Oughtrington Hall. In the 1970's it was mostly flooded but the water level has been lowered in recent years to increase the amenity value of the area subsequent to the planting of a new community woodland to the south of the older Helsdale Wood.
