Greenfoot Whinstone Quarry (United Kingdom)

One of only two whinstone quarries in Weardale (the other being Copt Hill).
Greenfoot worked the Little Whin Sill and Three Yard Limestone alongside the river Wear upstream of Stanhope.
The bottom of the quarry is now flooded but the workings can be seen from the road and from the Weardale Way footpath which runs through the site .
