Great Rock Iron Mine (United Kingdom)


Great Rock mine probably commenced work in the mid-C19th and continued in operation until 1969. The mine produced micaceous hematite which was used as an iron ore and also as an additive to paint. In the late 1970's and early 1980's parts of the mine were used for student training by the geology department of Leicester University
