Gold Reef City (Crown) Gold Museum (South Africa)

Gold reef city is a theme park based around the No. 14 shaft of the disused Crown Mines. There are reconstructions of C19th streetscapes with staff in period costumes. There is a gold heritage 'experience' which includes an underground visit down the shaft to see some of the gold reef workings and a demonstration of gold pouring. In addition there are also amusement rides, a casino and a casino. The site is on the SW suburbs of Johannesburg and gets over 1 million visitors a year
