Garesfield (Bute Pit Or Spen Colliery) Coal Mine (United Kingdom)


Opened in 1837 by the 2nd Marquis of Bute who died in 1848 leaving the colliery to his son.
In 1881 the colliery was offered for sale at £100,000 but there were no takers. In 1890 the colliery passed into the ownership of the Consett Iron Co Ltd
