Esgairlle Lead Mine (United Kingdom)

The workings, or what is left of them, lie next to the A44 Llangurig to Aberystwyth road. The main period of working was from 1846 to the end of the 19th Century, just over 2,000 tons of ore being raised during that time. Stone hammers were said to have been found on the surface indicating an earlier period of mining. A detailed plan of the of the surface features is given by David Bick in The Old Metal Mines of Mid-Wales, Part 2, Page 9.
