Coal Mine, Closed 1985 , not mechanised until 1980. Up to this time the colliery worked the 24 inch thick Beeston seam using traditional mining methods with machine undercut, bore & Fire, hand filling methods. The ripping and dinting was carried out using Holman Silver 303 rock borers. The coal faces were supported with wood props and bars, and the area Packhole to Packhole used Desford mushroom chocks.
After Mechanisation mined the 48 inch thick Whinmoor seam using Dowty 3 leg thin seam powered supports and the BJD B65 in web buttock shearer (DERDS).
