Elizabeth Iron Smelter (United States)

Built in 1832 by Edward Bell and his son Martin, the younger Bell received a patent for a pre-heating element that heated the air prior to its injection into the iron furnace. This pre-heating hot-blast system was likely used at the Elizabeth furnace.
