Dukes Sandstone Quarry (United Kingdom)


Current quarry operators are Blockstone Ltd. Dukes Quarry has been producing stone since the early part of the 19th century and it has been used in buildings since at least 1825 (Building Research Establishment n.d.). The quarry was originally worked to provide stone for Sir George Stephenson's development of the railways.
