Ding Dong (B45) Iron Mine (United Kingdom)

A rarely visited shaft hidden in a field off the Lindal to Marton Road. It consists of a 90' deep vertical shaft, initially through a steel pipe installed about 20 years go. There is a removable gate on the top and a convenient tree for SRT access. Underground is a fascinating glimpse into the life of a Furness Iron Miner - a complex maze of workings with the bonus of (if the water table is low enough) of accessing some extensive workings heading towards the main pit in the area (B30). No-one's ever got there yet though.
