Dalton (Dalton Brickworks Quarry) Sand/Gravel Quarry (United Kingdom)
A small quarry is marked nearby on 1800's OS maps. By the 1960's the quarry is being worked a few metres to the NW and considerably larger. Signs on the access still show it as Dalton Quarry owned by Ibstock (brickmakers) but it appears little used (2015) and there is no visible sign of the old brick works as you drive past. Ibstock do still manufacture bricks locally at the Ravenhead Works in Upholland and their planning permission describes shale extraction from here.
