Opened post 1882 by Sheepbridge Coal & Iron Co Ltd, later owned by Appleby Froddingham Steel Co ltd from Apr 1932, then United Steel Co Ltd from June 1946, finally USC Ore Mining Branch in 1948.

SK 893 132 Quarried Area
SK 886 137 Site of Loader (now part of rutland rly Museum) onto std gauge and start of concrete road to upper quarries at SK 893 145 & SK 897 150.

Surface walk done on 11.07.09 and concrete road intact as was tippler and rems of bridge parapet on Market Overton Road from Cottesmore. Roads raised significantly higher than field surface due to extraction by dragline etc.
