Clydach Ironworks Iron Smelt Mill (United Kingdom)


In 1793 two square based furnaces built with 3rd circular type in 1826 and 4th in 1842.
Site as excavated has rems of 3 furnaces, a charge house and wheel pit for 42ft water wheel. To sth is an incline plane of balanced type which was used to take iron to higher level rolling mill.
As at 1841 site had 1350 employees.
Production ceased in 1877.
