Cheddleton (Shaffalong) Coal Colliery (United Kingdom)
The tiny Shaffalong Coalfield had not been worked after 1849 until the Westwood Manor Coal and Iron Co sank 200yd two shafts in 1906 in an attempt to work the lower three of the five seams proved in the area. In 1908 there were 30 men underground and 26 on the surface. At the end of that year the workings were stopped due to flooding and the mine was officially abandoned in December 1909.
