Sunk at a cost of £57Millions, it was the last deep shaft mine sunk in Scotland under the NCB. It was a satellite mine of the Longannet complex and replaced 3 older drifts and improved ventilation of the system.

Sunk 1978
Closed in 1999 and filled in 2001.
