Cassis Limestone Quarry (France)

The largest quarry in the Cassis district, previously working the distinctive pinky grey marly limestone as building stone - used amongst other things for the base of the Statue of Liberty and Alexandrai Docks. Small scale quarrying still takes place in the district. The loading facility in the adjacent Port Miou is now a marina.
