In the liskeard area-particularly at Carnglaze in the Parish of St. Neot-slate has been quarried extensively. The cave complex is one of Cornwall’s amazing sights. It bears witness to an industry that has long gone. The St. Neot quarries produced slate for more than 200 years before finally closing in 1903. At its peak some 20 teams of quarrymen were working the slate, most of which went to customers in Plymouth
