Cannop Coal Mine (United Kingdom)

Near Coleford Forest of Dean. One of the few FOD pits to be nationalised in 1947. Closed September 1960. Few surface remains visible due to reclamation work though a portal (now gated but otherwise accessible) exists near the Bixlade Tram Road that was used as ventilation drainage and emergancy escape. This portal is actualy the entrance to the Bixlade High level mine. After closure the entrance was used as an alternative entrance to Cannop.
