Caldon Low Limestone Quarry (United Kingdom)

These vast quarries have been worked for over 200 years and are extensive. Some parts are still in operation but the area is littered with abandoned pits and faces and was connected to Froghall Wharf by the Caldon low Railway which was in operation in various guises from 1778 to 1920 on two routes.
