Bullhay Dale (Horseshoe Dale) Calcite Mine (United Kingdom)
The mine was developed before World War I. Today it's usually called Chelmorton or
Horseshoe Dale Mine. It was last worked 1970s. Surface tips were removed and the immediate area outside opencasted.
The most striking feature within the top adit is the large rider that separates the adit longitudinally. This rider is composed of at least seven slickensided calcite strings. This was left in situ as it is composed of brown calcite whereas the main vein was of white calcite.
