Brotton (Morrisons Pit) Iron Mine (United Kingdom)

Sunk in 1865, the two shafts were about 260 feet deep to the Main Seam. Owned by Robert Morrison, the left shaft was called Mary, the right one, Florence, after his two daughters. Eventually closed in 1921 because of exhaustion. Today a private house occupies the site with few reminders of its industrial origin.
