Biggin Dale Lead Trial (United Kingdom)

A short trial level in the side of the dale, driven along a vein consisting mostly of calcite. It is notable for the excellent sweeping pickwork on the Northern wall, but curiously there is no sign of this on the Southern wall, which instead has been blasted out. It is not clear if this is due to an earlier hand-picked level has been enlarged using powder, or whether the shot-holes and pick-marks are contemporaneous.
