Beltana Zinc Mine (Australia)

Mining of zinc began in 1974 at a site approximately 20km north of Beltana now known as the Perilya Beltana mine. It is an open cut mine and has recently become known for producing dramatic fluorescent specimens of willemite mixed with several other minerals. These pieces exhibit bright fluorescence, extreme phosphorescence, and wild patterns of colour.
