Ayle Burn Zinc Mine (United Kingdom)

The entrance to this mine was obliterated by repairs to the road into the Ayle Colliery, the water from the mine being piped under the road. The working is noted in T Sopwith's book @Alston Moor' because the level intersected natural caverns which, though rather tight in places, became something of a tourist attraction. These were still accessible via the level until the 1980's when the road work was undertaken. Moldywarps did find a connection into part of the caverns via a nearby pothole which should still be open.
