Aclare Silver Mine (Australia)


Largely a silver mine with associated lead output. Aclare was first mined in 1859 and ore treated at the nearby Wheal Ellen site. Named after Aclare in Co. Meath, Eire. History of the mine is well summarised by J. K. Chilman in 'Silver and a Trace of Gold' published by the South Australian Dept. of Mines and Energy in 1982.
