Abdon (Brown Clee) Other Rock Quarry (United Kingdom)

Abdon Quarry, Brown Clee Hill.
Great remains here of a Timber and Concrete Loading / Mill and a fabulous Stone Built Crusher House. The loading area is constructed of Concrete verticals and timber cross beams, nice to see surviving timbers still in place.
The incline to the site is very long and steep at about 1 in 4, at the top are the remains of the drumhouseand wagon staging area,

Quarrying was for a long time the main income of the area, and it was widely known as a dangerous and gruelling job. People would walk to the Abdon Quarry on Brown Clee Hill from as far as Bridgnorth and Ludlow. The quarry extracted Dhustone (Dolerite), a very hard and challenging material to extract.
